Concordia

Concordia is a unique social partnership which brings together the local business, agricultural, trade union and voluntary sectors in Northern Ireland.  Its aim is to drive forward social and economic development for the benefit of the whole community by becoming more outward looking and by achieving long term sustainability.

Concordia was founded in 1995. It is led by four social partners – the Confederation of British Industry, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action, and the Ulster Farmers’ Union. The social partners work together on a range of issues to provide a stronger, more united voice for civil society in Northern Ireland.

"To really get to grips with the issues inhibiting growth and development here requires a strong collaborative approach between all the strands that bind Northern Ireland society together.  Concordia brings these strands together in a top-level partnership, which gives effective representation to all the issues affecting individuals in Northern Ireland, across every social and political stratum, and puts essential political leverage behind them.” Seamus McAleavey, Chairperson, Concordia
